I am absolutely feral for this series, and I would go absolutely nuts if I received something for this! It's eerie and uncomfortable and the character dynamic gives me so much to chew through :'D please, please, please feel free to show off your horror chops and bring the creep factor into your piece. And don't be afraid to make your piece messed up lol.

If including Old Indou Hikaru (or any of the side characters) in your piece suits you, please feel free to use them. I only ask that the overall focus of your piece be one of the two requested characters!

Potential Prompts

Anything that centers New Hikaru. What's he feeling and experiencing (physically, emotionally, etc.)? What's it like having a body? How does his current life differ from when he was in the woods?

I can't begin to explain how strongly I feel about this book. As a person of color and a former student of foreign languages, I felt so seen and utterly bowled over by Kuang's work. It yanked me back to my college experiences—in both good and exceedingly ugly ways. I'd like to see that push-pull of the fascination with and love of learning juxtaposed with the backbreaking pain and rage of having your soul repeatedly spat on by your institution :')

I am a huge fan of all of these characters, and I would be so happy to read fic for any and all of them. Other characters who weren't nominated can make appearances too, but one (or more) of the four nominated characters should be the center of your piece.

Potential Prompts

Anything that focuses on Ramy and/or Victoire would be super amazing. What were their thoughts leading up to the joining of the Hermes Society? How were they coping (were they coping?) with the bigotry they experienced, or the stress of the book's events? In what ways have they felt close with each other and Robin? How have they felt distant?
A character study on Griffin. An exploration on his journey, from Macau to Hampstead to Oxford. How he became who he is, his relationship with Professor Lovell, how he regards Robin and how he feels about his existence, etc. Just...anything Griffin.
What's Victoire up to following the events of the book? Please feel free to speculate wildly.

Smut is welcome, overall, but if you go this route, I'd appreciate if it also worked on a deeper level. Like as a dive into their relationship or concepts of masculinity or something.
